What could you do with a coat hanger, candle, plastic bottle, magazine, card, napkins, an old water balloon and toilet & tissue paper to create #value?
Students of the 3rd year undergraduate course ‘Responsible Entrepreneurship’, led by Dr Anica Zeyen, took on the challenge. They were handed bags with these seemingly worthless objects. Why? In management studies, #value is often understood as monetary. However, many entrepreneurs, ‘create’ much more than financial value. They create social, environmental, aesthetic value, raise awareness for important topics and much much more. One group made a beautiful artificial flower bouquet, another made jewellery and all the students learned that you can make something of value out of nothing. Now that is what I call entrepreneurship #CSR #Sustainability #ResponsibleBusiness.
Dr Anica Zeyen is a lecturer in Strategy and Sustainability at the School of Management, Royal Holloway University of London. She is also Co-Director of Student Experience for the School; PRME (Principles of Responsible Management Education) coordinator and Centre for Research Into Sustainability (CRIS) PhD Coordinator, together with Dr. Sarah Glozer.
